[Lost Canvas] Volume 6

Akitashoten has announced that the 6th volume of Lost Canvas will be released in Japan on the 8th of November. There's no artwork for it yet but since I can't recall whether I'd shown the artwork for volume 5, which came out on the 7th of September, here it is:

[Lost Canvas] New Silver Saint

Teshirogi never ceases to surprise me with the quality of her art. I don't generally talk about Lost Canvas simply because ideally I would love to be able to provide some form of English translation of it but unfortunately, I just don't have the time, nevermind the fact that my Japanese isn't that great.

However, in the last published chapter (number 54) it was revealed that the Jamir Warrior Woman known as Yuzuriha is in fact the Silver Saint of the Crane. And here is the artwork of her cloth, which, if you ask me, greatly supersedes in quality those of Ophiuchus and Eagle.

Some new cloths and surplices started being shown as schematics in volumes 3 and 4 of Lost Canvas (Unicorn V2 and Benu Surplice respectively). While I am yet to acquire volume 5 of Lost Canvas, I am hoping that the volume which will contain chapter 54 will also have the schematics of the Crane. I think this would make a tremendous myth cloth ^^.

Thanks to Trevor for the scan ;)

[Saint Cloth Myth] Figure Oh 116 - Kryshna, Crystal Saint and Mu appendix

Okay here we go, the "Age of Myth" pictures from Figure Oh are out at last. Normally they all come out at once but hey, I take what comes ;)

So like before, not much to be enthused about. I personally find Kryshna to be a bit of a disappointment to be honest. I mean the scale is very accurate and even though it's not as orange as it ought to be, the sculpture is spot on. The face however is a disaster. I mean, just look at it... How far away are we from Sorrento, I ask you? Okay so it's not Aiolia or Shaka pre-appendix but still, anyone who will want to display it in the "Maha Roshini" posture (crossed legs with the upper part of the scale removed) will have to deal with that ginormous neck the reminds me of this tribe of "giraffe women" who wear all these rings to make their necks longer... The eyes don't do it for me either, it's a bit worrying actually. Bandai was on a rising slope of accuracy and beauty but this to me takes it right back. They'd better not mess up the rest of the god warriors I say!

We continue with a new picture of Crystal Saint. They've added a new cape, which looks reasonably okay if you ignore the fold down the middle. Though again, I really don't like the face they've given him. I wasn't hoping for much improvements since last May though...

As for Mu's appendix well, sadly there's nothing new since last time...

And the "next" text underneath Crystal's phot seems to refer to the upcoming boxset of the 5 bronzes and their "reborn" V2 cloths. I'm sure we'll find out next month if not before.

Thanks once again to Sorrento for the images

[Saint Cloth Myth] Crysaor Kryshna, Hobby Japan 11 Pictures

Well I won't dwell too long on this one, as I'm not a huge fan of the Marinas, but I'll wager a lot of people will be vary happy with this myth.

So thanks to Shido for the image, apologies for not posting it earlier, I was away doing other things (like anyone cares). Enjoy the picture:

[Saint Cloth Myth Appendix] Leo Aiolia - Colour Pictures

Due to be released sometime in the next couple of days, the new Figure Oh and Hobby Japan will certainly have more details about the next batch of Appendix to come. As a preview, our dear friend Sorrento presents Leo Aiolia finally coloured with details of both faces.

Admittedly, my first reaction was "umm, I'm not too sure about the colour of the mouth when he's in 'attack mode', it looks like he's showing gums rather than teeth". However, remembering the various little changes they did for Seiya before they released it earlier this year, I won't assume this is the final product.

Note that the arms seem to be detachable. This must be a way to have the forearms of the Leo cloth used on the myth cloth and still make the Appendix presentable as a single unit. For my part, I'll have it with his Athena Exclamation pose on, along with Mu and Milo when they come out (assuming the latter will come out as well, though he hasn't been presented yet) and the quieter face on the myth. No release date has been announced yet however.

Enjoy the pictures.

[Customs] Saint Seiya Episode G - Hyperion by Ayorr

I don't typically talk about customs on this blog for various reasons. For starters, it's not really official Saint Seiya information and then there are so many new customs being created by such talented fans that I would be hard pressed presenting them all.

However, I will make an exception for that one. A double exception even since I don't even read the episode G not being terribly fan of the drawing style.

Ayorr has been doing customs for quite a few years now. I couldn't say exactly how many as I don't know him personally but he's been presenting his work for as long as the Ma Déesse forum has existed. He is the most famous and prolific customer there and his army of specters is slowly increasing.

But this time I wanted to show what I find to be a superb piece of sculpting and painting. As I said I don't read the Episode G so all I know about Hyperion is that fact that he's a Titan and Titans are supposed to be bad guys... (I think). I'm going to shut up now and let you admire his work.

For more customs from Ayorr you can check out his blog (in French)

Tamashii wrote on their website that the Premium Saint Cloth Myth of Shun-Hades would be available from 10th of September. They haven't faltered and now this myth is available in Japan.

No indication yet when it'll be available in Hong Kong and Taiwan but now it's out at least ^^.

Edit: ah apparently it's out in Hong Kong on the 17th...

[Saint Cloth Myth] Saint Myth Code for Shun/Hades, Syd and Kryshna

Yes already the code for the 3 of them, it'd better be said that it took me a while to get through all of them.

The code for Shun/Hades is vicious. Once you transcribed the letters you have to take 3 steps backwards in the alphabet at which point you have a string that spells:

"OONTHEWAYTOELYSIUMWILLSTARTBEINGOPENEDS"

Or in Engrish ;)

"Soon the way to Elysium will start being opened"

Which to me does nothing but announce the release of the next series of OVAs in December. Of course it could announce myths from the Elysion Chapter such as the brothers Hypnos and Thanatos, some interesting specters like Queen, Gordon or Sylphide or even Hades himself in his God Robe. Who knows?

The code from Syd's box is the least interesting of the three seeing as it's exactly the same as the one on Siegfried's box. In other words, all it spells is "ALIOTH MIZAR ALCOR BENETNASCH DUBHE MERAK PHECDA MEGREZ"

Not much to go on with that one :/

Finally the code for Kryshna seems to be the most cryptic. Again it was pretty vicious. This time you had to go 5 letters ahead after transcribing. You would then get:

"CHTENSTERNDIEAUFEINERALTEBURGLEU"

Obviously something in German. Put the letters back together and you get:

"leuchten sterne die auf einer alte burg"

Which roughly translates into "the stars are shining in an old castle" (Got it translated by a friend of mine from Germany so I'm pretty confident it's as good as it'll get)

What castle they refer to is a bit mysterious. The obvious one is Heinstein Castle where Pandora grew up. The stars could refer to Hypnos and Thanathos who both bear stars on their foreheads and of course since it's a German castle it would make it the obvious choice.

However, one could argue that Asgard is part of the Germanic tradition. After all Sorrento's code mentionned Hagen in German. The "castle" could be Valhalla Hall even though it's not technically a castle. The "stars" could be either of the remaining stars from Ursa Major from which the God Warriors get their God Robes. Perhaps it's just one way to say "We're gonna hurry up and catch up with the God Warriors to be released". Personally I can't find any stronger argument either way. What's for certain is that it doesn't refer to any particular character.

Time will tell what this is all about really ;)

[Saint Cloth Myth] Syd of Mizar - Official Tamashii Photo Set

Here are the official Tamashii photos. It's interesting to see how it really doesn't look too great with just the helm on (as in with the chin part left out). The rest of it is stunning as we've seen before! Enjoy the pictures ^^
