[Saint Cloth Myth] Hobby Japan 4 - High Res. Scans

As always, thanks to Sorrento for providing those pictures:

I have to admit, Thanatos looks absolutely divine. Notice also the special pack exclusive to Tamashii Nation of Aries Shion Surplice + Pope Shion available for pre-order at the exhibit for ¥8,000. Noticeably the surplice has been recoloured to a greyer, more smoky colour. It is unclear whether this pack will also be available to the general public through (as is often the case) Hong Kong retailers of it will really remain exclusive to Japan. So far, no myth cloth product has remained exclusive to Japan so it's unlikely this will be the case here.

The Medicos figurine are also worth mentioning, if nothing else because they seem to have been in the works for about a year now and while some have been released, others like the 3 Version 1 Cloth bronze saints are still without indication of RRP. They do look good though so watch this space ;)

Back in 2008 - Lots to catch up with

Hey folks,

I know I've been away from writing in there for about 2 months or so. I apologise, especially since as I've been following the news in the Saint Seiya world, there is lots I need to catch up on, so we'll keep things to their utmost important.

So we'd left it at Hagen and Baian but since then, in the Saint Cloth Myth release calendar, there has been loads of juicy new characters due to come out. Let's see if I can dig photos for you.

- January had Seahorse Baian released and here are the Tamashii photos:

The reviews so far have been rather mixed about this myth. Some love it, others find it rather plain, the majority seem to agree on the object form not being the best thing Bandai has done to this day...

Anyway, let's move on to more exciting things

- February 2008: Appendix Leo and Aries

Now that's something due to come out officially today so keep an eye out for those pre-orders. Meanwhile, have a few more Tamashii pictures:

- March 2008: Special Edition Gold Plated Pegasus Seiya & God of Death Thanatos

While we've already covered the former with relevant images (save for an extra item which will be available in Hong Kong, that is a display case with integrated lights), the latter has only been recently announced.

Apparently, the box will be larger than normal. Seeing how the wings seem to be shadowing everything, this does not surprise me much. Here's a few pictures, including recent scans of Figure Oh:

And the latest Figure Oh:

- April 2008: Eta Star Benetnash Mime.

The God Warrior series goes on slowly but surely. The 4th god warrior has been not only announced but is available for pre-order in most major retailers.

However, so far all we have is this:

It seems a trend since Hagen to show as little as possible about the upcoming God Warriors. This one is coming out in April and so far this is all the photos we have....

- May 2008: Scylla Io

Now that's the only Marina worth having (and the only I will buy for myself). Just seeing the prototype makes you go mmmhhhhhh. See for yourself:

Again, not much to see but enough to realise that there is a great fig coming out... makes you wonder why it's the brainless characters who get the best armour... ;)

- June 2008: Pegasus Seiya God Cloth

Yep, well with the Elysion chapter coming up in OVA format, this was to be expected as they always start with Seiya anyway.

This again will most certainly won't disappoint. The big question is what colour? I'm guessing silver blue as in the animé but it may be different...

That's all for now. I'll post some more as news come through, hopefully this is enough ;)

[Saint Cloth Myth] Hobby Japan 2008 - 01

Well the first scans of Hobby Japan are out so let's see what new things we're being shown this time.

Though before we do that, let me show two official shots of the appendixes for Leo Aiolia and Aries Mu:

We know they will be released in February 2008 (see announcement below), one for the price of ¥1,890 like the first four the other for ¥2,310. there is no real indication why Mu will be more expensive (and sadly the feature from Hobby Japan does not leave us any the wiser on this but I'm sure we'll find out in time)

Let's move on to the scans from Hobby Japan. What transpires from this is the complete compatibility of the parts from Aiolia appendix onto the myth cloth version to make it less bulky. Of course this means that if you want to do that and display the appendix, you'll have to get yourself two of them but for my part, I'll do just like I did for Seiya and simply change the head. Still it's very well thought of even if all parts will be made of PVC.

The second page shows little new. The set of the first 5 bronze cloths will be released with necks that can be used to adapt the heads of the V3. One can regret that they just have not issued a new head, this would probably have me think about maybe acquiring this...

As for the casual clothes, there seems to be a large belt system to allow for the pandoras to be placed on top of the other in the manner done by Shiryu when he goes to Jamir to have the cloths repaired by Mu. There is also a part which can be adapted to the display stands as I doubt they can stand by themselves with the pandora on the back without falling over.

Finally the photograph of Hagen shows nothing that we have not seen before. I'm still hoping they will refine the hair on the shoulders as it really looks like tagliatelli there ;)

A big thanks to green0540 (all4seiya), M & Tsume (ma-deesse) for the photos

[Saint Cloth Myth] Hobby Japan 12 - Casual Clothes, Crysaor Kryshna, Aiolia Appendix, Mu Appendix

Well I guess those took a wee bit longer to scan than Figure Oh :p

Okay so we have more pictures of the Casual Clothes for Seiya and Shiryu, this time with different poses and angles from the official Tamashii ones. We still don't know whether Shiryu will have his tottoo on the back included, which is a little annoying as enquiring minds like mine would like to know. We'll find out when it arrives through the post I suppose.

I'm also not entirely sure how the figs don't fall back with the weight of these boxes, they look kinda arched forward on the photos, I just hope they'll be stable enough, otherwise they may have to sit on the boxes or something ;)

Now, colour photos of Mu appendix are absolutely splendid. Finally they have given him more Mu-like eyes and not the child-like ones he has on the original myth cloth. If anything he may look a wee bit too angry even. So far the only down side I've noticed is that the rosary seems to be fixed to the hand holding it. Not entirely surprising since the hand is open but still a bit annoying if one wishes to re-use the rosary with shaka or something.

Other images are similar to those posed previously.

Thanks to jew_green @ all4seiya ^^.

[Saint Cloth Myth Appendix] Leo Aiolia - Colour Pictures

Due to be released sometime in the next couple of days, the new Figure Oh and Hobby Japan will certainly have more details about the next batch of Appendix to come. As a preview, our dear friend Sorrento presents Leo Aiolia finally coloured with details of both faces.

Admittedly, my first reaction was "umm, I'm not too sure about the colour of the mouth when he's in 'attack mode', it looks like he's showing gums rather than teeth". However, remembering the various little changes they did for Seiya before they released it earlier this year, I won't assume this is the final product.

Note that the arms seem to be detachable. This must be a way to have the forearms of the Leo cloth used on the myth cloth and still make the Appendix presentable as a single unit. For my part, I'll have it with his Athena Exclamation pose on, along with Mu and Milo when they come out (assuming the latter will come out as well, though he hasn't been presented yet) and the quieter face on the myth. No release date has been announced yet however.

Enjoy the pictures.

[Saint Cloth Myth] Figure Oh & Hobby Japan September 2007

Oh there's some good stuff this month. Not quite as much as I was hoping but still.

Let's first start with the scans from Hobby Japan:

There's yet more images of Sorrento, who still does not quiiiite have the right colour of hair but that hardly matters at this point. He still looks amazing. Some little nitpicking details we could point out: There's few pairs of hands, which will restrict the amount of positions, even though he does hardly ever do anything other than play his flute. You can also notice that the leg parts are in two parts, one in metal, the other in PVC, which shows rather considerably on these pictures. Still I'm guessing those who have ordered this Myth should be pleased with their purchase.

Then we have a first clear view of the prototype for the Appendix of Aiolia. He is seen doing is part in the trinity posture for the Athena Exclamation attack. Does this mean we should expect appendixes of Milo and Mu in the near future? Time will tell. I would have thought if they were to do an appendix of Milo, it would include a slightly more convincing "Scarlet Needle" hand... At any rate, even though there is no paint applied to this prototype, it is already obvious how tremendously improved the myth cloth will be once this is ready. I, for one, am looking forward to it. It appears that it will include two faces (like the others), a front piece with helmet / diadem, another with just hair, and whilst only can be seen, we can suppose that there will be two identical back-hair pieces as well. It's hard to tell if the armour will be adaptable on the myth but looking at the design, I would say it is highly probable this will be so.

Finally, a new angle of Syd of Mizar with the Object form of his God Robe. The Object is quite a piece of art I have to admit, despite the back-legs which I find a little too thin or even disproportionate compared to the front legs. I would need to see how it looks like in the anime again to compare really. Sadly, the photograph of Syd is too similar to the one we saw a few weeks ago so we are yet to discover what he looks like with the lower jaw of the helm attached as well as without his helm on.

Let's have a look at Figure Oh now:

Well we start with a better view of Syd, but sadly the photos, quite certainly the official ones from Tamashii, are identical to those in HJ. I think the text in Japanese underneath "next" says something along the lines of "Second most expected warrior by the public!! From Asgard, the lands of the frozen north" but my translation may be off a little.

Then more pictures of Sorrento, not dissimilar to those in HJ. Two more can be seen, one of them with Siegfried, which, of course, is in the wrong position as they should be heading off towards the Alpha Star face to face with Siegfried's hands tied behind Sorrento's back, but I guess such a posture is not easily doable.

The Pandora's boxes are (presumably) to be included with the Appendix Casual Clothes series to be released, it would seem, in November. Note that the Pegasus Object is that of the second version (in the anime), and not of the (more popular) third and final version.

Finally, just one more image of the display stands B, which I'm still trying to decide whether to buy or not...
